Principle of Classification

Cars are placed in classes to encourage close competition based on similar performance profiles. Vehicles are categorized based on engine displacement of internal combustion engines (ICE), induction, and EV specifications.

Category

SS - Super Street

SM - Street Modified

RM - Race Modified

FR - Full Race Unlimited/Open

EV - Electric motor

The class is designated based on <Category><Class#> (example ST1 for a 1500cc street car).

I.C.E. Displacement

Kei Cup - Up to 1300cc

Class 1 - 1301 - 2000cc

Class 2 - 2001 - 3500cc

Class 3 - Over 3500cc

Balance of Performance factors:

Force Induction has a factor or 1.7 x the displacement.

Hybrid EVs are classified based on the ICE displacement

Kei Cup (Kei)

Kei car is the smallest category of Japanese, expressway-legal motor vehicles. The term 'Kei' is a shortening of kei-jidōsha.

This class is perfect for street driven small displacement cars that were popular during the pre90s and some more recent models primarily from Japanese and European city cars models.

Kei Championship

Super Street Championship

Super Street vehicles are high-performance, street-legal cars with minimal modifications to enhance their power, handling, and overall performance. With restrictions on interior and weight must be 95% or OEM curb weight, these cars often retain most of their original (OEM) components but may include aftermarket parts such as upgraded exhaust systems, suspension kits, and performance tires.

Super Street cars must comply with regulations that ensure they are safe and suitable for everyday road use, but they are also capable of delivering impressive performance on the track.

Super Street (SS)
Street Tuner/Modified (ST/SM)

Street Tuner/Mod Championship

Street Modified vehicles push the boundaries of street legality with extensive modifications. These cars feature significant upgrades to their OEM engines, drivetrains, and aerodynamics.

Common modifications include turbochargers or superchargers, aftermarket suspension systems, and some weight reduction measures are allowed. While they must still adhere to certain safety standards, Street Modified cars are primarily designed for competitive racing and may only be marginally street-legal.

These are cars common to Improved Production Circuit series and require a roll cage to be installed.

Race Modified (RM)

Race Modified (RM) Championship

Race Modified cars are heavily modified production-based vehicles for competitive racing. These vehicles are allowed extensive modifications, including engine swaps, chassis reinforcement, and the addition of mandatory roll cages.

Aerodynamic enhancements such as spoilers and diffusers are common, and many non-essential components are removed to reduce weight. Race Modified cars are not street-legal and are intended solely for track use. They are optimized for performance and safety in a racing environment.

Open Class (OC)

Unlimited/Open Championship

Full Race Unlimited/Open class vehicles represent the pinnacle of racing performance with virtually no restrictions on modifications. These cars can be custom-built from the ground up or extensively modified from existing models. Advanced engineering solutions, such as aerodynamic optimization, high-output engines, and cutting-edge materials, are employed to achieve maximum performance.

Full Race Unlimited/Open class cars are exclusively designed for competitive racing and are not bound by the constraints of street legality or mass production origins.

Force Induction

Force induction uses a turbocharger or supercharger to increase the volume and pressure of air entering the internal combustion engine, thereby increasing the power output potential. Force induction vehicles in Time Attack are classified based on a 1.7x multiplier of the NA engine displacement.

At this time, HEV cars with FI are classified based solely on the ICE setup.

Restrictions

Entry is restricted to production based vehicles only. The level of modification determines Super Street, Tuner Production, Pro categories. Classes are based on engine displacement and aspiration.

Production-Based Car

Compete in diverse classes tailored for every level of racing enthusiast and vehicle however, only production cars are allowed (with VIN/Chassis # from a reputable manufacturer) . Replicas, and silhouettes of production cars are prohibited.

Full Race-Prepared Classes

Join the elite racers with fully prepared machines for ultimate speed and performance.

Tires

Only DOT tires are allowed. All tires mut be commercially available to the public in Jamaica prior to 30 days before competition.

Fuel

Fuel is restricted to Commercially available pump fuel
